David Geske - Managing Principal; Financial Operations Principal

Mr. Geske has over 20 years of private placement experience in both the US and Europe. Most recently, he headed North American fund raising for the European private equity group Sal Oppenheim Private Equity Partners (owned by Deutsche Bank). He previously headed the private equity placement business for the German bank HypoVereinsbank out of its New York branch, where he focused on placing both U.S. and non-U.S. venture capital, buyout, and special situations funds with U.S. and European institutional and private investors. Prior to this, he worked with the Austrian bank Creditanstalt in both Vienna and New York placing both private equity funds and direct/equity investment deals with global investors. David has an MBA and MIA from Columbia University. He also has a BA in physics/astrophysics with a minor in Russian studies from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Jennifer Simpson - Managing Principal

Ms. Simpson has over 10 years of private placement experience and focuses on corporate strategic advisory as well as fundraising. She also evaluates new investments for Gladstone Management and develops value creation strategies for those investments. She previously worked for Morgenthaler Partners arranging debt for their leveraged buyouts. For the 7 years prior, Ms. Simpson worked for National City Bank in various roles including SVP of Credit for their $5 billion small business portfolio as well as a senior debt lender for leveraged middle market companies. Ms. Simpson served on active duty as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army. She holds a B.S. in Economics from The Wharton School and an MBA from Case Western Reserve University. Licenses: Series 79, 63 and 24.

 

Jack Dellafiora - Managing Principal; Chief Compliance Officer; Treasurer

Mr. Dellafiora is CCO of Gladstone Securities and the Gladstone Companies, where he supervises regulatory compliance, risk management, internal audit, and ethics initiatives.  Prior to Gladstone, he held management roles in regulatory compliance, financial and operational risk management, financial reporting, and enterprise data management with Fannie Mae. Prior to that he lead attestation engagements for BDO Seidman where he worked on a diverse set of client industries. Mr. Dellafiora is a CPA in the Commonwealth of Virginia with a BBA in Accountancy from the University of Notre Dame and a MBA from the University of Maryland's Smith School of Business. Licenses: Series 7 and 24.



Michael LiCalsi - Managing Principal; Chief Legal Officer; Secretary

Mr. LiCalsi is Chief Legal Officer and Secretary for Gladstone Securities and the sole Internal Counsel for the Gladstone Companies. Before joining Gladstone, he served as an associate attorney in the Washington, D.C. office of Baker Botts L.L.P., a multinational law firm. From 1996 to 2004, he held various positions at TD Waterhouse Investor Services, Inc. (currently TD Ameritrade, Inc.), including those of regional and national vice president. Mr. LiCalsi is currently a member of the Virginia State Bar and District of Columbia Bar. Prior to his tenure in the financial services industry, Mr. LiCalsi graduated from Rutgers College with a BA in history and a JD from the George Mason University School of Law. Licenses: Series 7 and 24.

 

Erika Highland - Vice President

Ms. Highland has over 8 years of private placement experience and focuses on fund raising for funds and companies. She also plays a principal role in the private finance activities of Gladstone Management. Prior to joining Gladstone, she worked with Wells Fargo where she was responsible for managing a private debt portfolio with national and regional retail chains. From July 2001 through June 2003, she worked as a financial analyst in A.G. Edwards' Investment Banking Division. Ms. Highland holds a BS in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Boston College. Licenses: Series 79.

 

Jack Vander Leeuw - Associate

Mr. Vander Leeuw has 5 years of private placement and investment banking advisory experience and supports the firm's advisory and due diligence activities. He also supports the private finance activities of Gladstone Management. Prior to joining Gladstone, he worked in the investment banking division of BB&T Capital Markets | Windsor Group, where he provided mergers & acquisition advisory services to clients. Mr. Vander Leeuw earned a BSBA in Business Administration from Georgetown University. Licenses: Series 7, 79, and 63.

 

Matthew Goldstein - Associate

Mr. Goldstein has 5 years of private placement and investment banking advisory experience and supports the firm's advisory and due diligence activities. He also supports the private finance activities of Gladstone Management. Prior to joining Gladstone, he worked in New York in the LBO group for The Royal Bank of Scotland where he focused on management of the bank's private debt and equity positions across various industries. Mr. Goldstein earned a BS in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting from Georgetown University where he graduated Cum Laude. Licenses: Series 7, 79 and 63.
